Trim My Fur and Kong Singapore - More about the Red Mission Toy

Trim My Fur has been running our grooming business for close to a year now and we realised that many new pawrents are at a loss of what to do for their furkids. When it comes to feeding, grooming and playing, they went through many trial and errors before they get the right match.

To make this easier for you, we will try to collaborate with these business.
Acting as a middle-man, we will introduce their products and services to you.
As your groomer, we do not stop at just grooming your furkid. We know their skin condition and behaviours best, through our interaction with them during grooming.

You, as a new or existing pawrent can seek help from us. While we may not know everything, we try our best to help you.

First Up! Toys! Toys! Toys! Lots of playtime and interaction for you and your furkids especially for the energetic ones....

Starting from January 2015, for the whole month (over 4 weeks), we are going to feature a series of different toys suitable for your furkids. Before we start to show you the first toy, let us first share with you a little more from this company, whose toys we will be featuring.

Have you heard of Kong Toys ? Do your furkids own one themself? If you have caught our short trailer over our facebook or instagram, you would have seen the "Red Mission toy".
What is so unique about this toy that makes it a mission toy?

I managed to take a day off grooming school in Decemeber 2014 to meet up with the man behind Kong Singapore. He owns Roots Technologies Pte Ltd and distributes products from The Honest Kitchen as well.

Mr Philip Kwan is a humble man who have big dreams. Together with his Kong Cares Team, he hopes every sheltered dog will own a Kong Toy by March 2017, that is when he will turn 60 and his company turns 20 too! This is his unique way of giving back to society. We hope to be part of his great campaign by sharing about his mission too.

Dogs need to play, so Mr Philip hopes to be able to provide 1 Kong Cares (otherwise known as "seconds") for every dog under the care of an animal shelter or animal welfare group in Singapore by March 2017. With this, he hopes to support adoption drives to create awareness and support for Singapore Specials and other shelter dogs.

You can read up more about them in Kong Cares. Shelters, do feel free to connect with Kong Cares.

Milky our ambassador with Kong Classic

The Kong Classic toy with minor defects which are deemed unfit for sale but is in usable condition, is also known as Seconds or Kong Cares. Now that you know the story of the red mission toy, pass on the story and learn about how your dog can play with this toy!

Are you wondering why Milky is sticking her tongue out in the previous photo?

Spot the treat falling out from the Kong Classic.

You can stuff any treats into the Kong Classic toy and encourage your furkids to play with the toy. It will keep them entertained, at the same time working their brains and getting themself rewarded each time a treat falls out from the toy. There are even receipes online on what stuffings you can fill up into these toys!

10 General Dog play Tips:
1. Allocate sufficient time each day to play with your dog. (15 - 30 minutes at least)

2. Buy them toys that are safe for chewing or playing. (No small choking parts)

3. Introduce them a toy at a time, don't give them all at once.

4. Teach your dog how to play, or how you want them to play the toy.

5. For senior dogs, do practice some patience. They may take a longer time to learn.

6. Do encourage your dogs when they play correctly. (Treats, touch or talk)

7. For the first few times they are playing with their new toy, do monitor them.

8. Remove all sticky labels/tabs from new toys.

9. Do clean your toys regularly, some toys are washable, wash them if not replace them once they are worn out.

10. Encourage your dogs to share their toys with others! Sharing is caring.

Now she's having interest and exploring her new toy by herself. It took Milky only 5-10 minutes to learn how to play with her new Kong Classic Toy.

We played fetch with her with the Kong Classic Toy too. The toy bounces as you throw it, so do watch out where you will be throwing them.

We will be leaving the Kong Classic Toy around in our home salon so that furkids can play with it while waiting to be groomed or waiting for pawrents to pick them up! Furkids on staycation are welcomed to play with them too.

Watch out over the next few weeks as we will be sharing with you more toys for play!

Before we sign off, we would like to thank Kong Singapore, Mr Philip and Miss May for the kind sponsorship and their valuable time with us. We are all hyped up and excited after the session with them.

This is our first collaboration, we hope more are on the way, thanks for giving us the chance.
